It’s time for Fatshion Faceoff again! If you’re new to the blog, please see here what Fatshion Faceoff is about :). This week’s theme was chosen by Mhairi, and she chose ‘Christmas Day’. In Finland we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve already, and actually this year we my family will possibly celebrate on 22nd already, before my brother and his gf go to see her family. The main thing about Christmas time for me is to spend time with my family, so I don’t really mind what day the celebrating will happen, as long as I’m with the people I love the most :).

And this year I’m planning to wear this gorgeous dress for the Christmas dinner. So, this dress. Ah, this dress. A few months ago Mouna and I went to visit the Scarlett & Jo studio here in London, and of course we were eager to try some stuff on. I have been a fan of their prom dresses ever since I got my first one, and when I saw this beauty I had to try it on. The S&J designer Angela told me that they didn’t put that dress into production and she was quite sad about it, and after seeing it on me she demanded that I take it. Now that is a demand that I wouldn’t even think of refusing, as I love this satin dream dress! The S&J prom dresses are really a perfect fit for my body shape, and there will always be room for them in my wardrobe.

I borrowed a petticoat from Diana to give the skirt of the dress more ‘oomph’, and wore this lovely bracelet from Glitzy Secrets. The bracelet is a really great addition to any party outfit, beautiful without taking too much attention from other bits of the outfit. Overall my look for these photos ended up being kinda gothic.. I still like it a lot, but I might go for a red lipstick instead of this dark cherry one.

Nyt olis jälleen Fatshion Faceoffin aika. Jos et ole vielä tietoinen tästä ‘projektista’ jota teen 4 muun plussa-bloggaajan kanssa, niin lisätietoa (englanniksi) löytyy täältä. Tämän viikon teemaksi Mhairi valitsi Joulupäivän. Täällä päin maailmaa joulun ‘pääpäivä’ on Joulupäivä, eikä aatto niinkuin Suomessa.. siksipä teema on tämä. Meidän perheessä taitaa tänä vuonna joulun juhlistaminen tapahtua jo tänä sunnuntaina, ennenkuin veli lähtee tyttöystävänsä kanssa toisen puolen perheen luo. Minulle joulussa pääasia on viettää aikaa perheen ja rakkaiden kanssa, eli eipä sillä niin väliä ole mikä päivä juhlitaan, kunhan ollaan yhdessä :).

Tänä vuonna meinasin pukeutua tähän ihanaan mekkoon joulupäivälliselle. Tämän mekon tarina alkaa parin kuukauden takaa, jolloin olin Mounan kanssa visiitillä Scarlett & Jo:n studiolla täällä Lontoossa. Siellä oli rekeillä roikkumassa vaikka mitä ihanuuksia, ja tietysti haluttiin kokeilla niitä. Olen tykännyt näistä merkin prom-mekoista siitä asti kun sain ensimmäiseni, ja kun näin tämän satiinisen unelman, niin hyökkäsin heti sitä sovittamaan. S&J:n suunnittelija Angela kertoi, että kyseinen mekko ei mene ollenkaan tuotantoon, ja että hän ei ollut päätöksestä kovin iloinen. Nähtyään mekon päälläni, hän vaati että otan sen omakseni. Eipä tarvinnut paljoa mua suostutella ajatukseen (öh, siis ei ollenkaan, haha)! S&J prom-mekot on ihan täydellisiä mun kroppamallille, ja mulla tulee aina olemaan vaatekaapissa tilaa niille. 

Saadakseni mekkoon lisää volyymiä, lainasin tämän alushameen kämppikseltäni Dianalta, ja koruksi lisäsin tämän rannekorun Glitzy Secrets:iltä. Kokonaisuudessaan tämä asu näyttää aika goottimaiselta (voin kuvitella veljeni kommentoimassa juurikin noin, haha).. ja vaikka tästä kokonaisuudesta tykkäänkin, niin taidan valita tämän tumman huulipunan asemesta ihan normaalin punaisen.

And as you probably know, I’m one of the blogger ambassadors for the Danish brand Junarose (more about it in this post), and as a part of that I get to pick a few items from them every month. So I’m doing this post as a ‘double post’, both Fatshion Faceoff and the first one of my November Junarose posts :).

This month I chose a dress, top and jeans from Junarose, and in this outfit you will see the dress. It’s a basic black skater dress (on sale now!), and it’s really comfy and versatile – good choice from me definitely! I teamed it up with a blue blazer (also from Junarose), wetlook leggings, platform ankleboots, my amazing new bag from Just Fab, and obviously a statement ring – a golden big bow by ASOS Curve.

Ja niinkuin varmaan jo tiedätte, olen yksi tanskalaisen Junarosen bloggeri-lähettiläistä (lisätietoa englanniksi tässä postauksessa), ja osana tätä ohjelmaa saan joka kuukausi valita pari tuotetta heiltä. Eli tämä on nyt sitten tällainen ‘tuplapostaus’, joka on sekä Fatshion Faceoff että ensimmäinen marraskuun Junarose-postauksista :).

Tässä kuussa valitsin Junaroselta mekon, t-paidan ja farkut, ja tässä asussa näkyy tuo mekko. Se on ihan perus skater-mallinen mekko (muuten nyt alessa!), ja mekko on ihanan mukava ja myös monikäyttöinen – loistava valinta meikäläiseltä! Yhdistin siihen sinisen bleiserin (myös Junaroselta), ‘wetlook’ leggingsit, korkonilkkurit, ihanan uuden laukkuni, ja tietysti myös sen näyttävän sormuksen – kultaisen rusetin ASOS Curvelta.

A few weeks ago I was asked by Fashion World if I wanted to take part in their shapewear challenge. I haven’t really worn much shapewear, only highwaisted knickers really, so I was intrigued and replied yes.

They kindly let me choose a party dress and shoes, and with them they sent me 3 different pieces of shapewear. They also sent me scorecards for each item, and I was meant to take photos wearing my party dress with each item. So that is exactly what I did, and first I will show you the scorecard images and then the final party outfit.

First up is the MAGISCULPT Retro Underbust Bodyshaper* in size 26. I really love how it looks on the model, but unfortunately it didn’t work on me at all. It looks ok, and smooths my belly like it should, but the poppers in the crotch kept on opening all the time if I moved. I think I possibly should have sized up to get rid of this issue, but I feel that then it would have been too loose in my belly area. Maybe my back is just too long for this type of shapewear, as I did have the shoulder straps on maximum lenght too. So for that reason some of the scores are so low, never knowing when the poppers would open.

Next up is the MAGISCULPT High Waist Thigh Shaper* in size 26. I did really like the effect of this shapewear, and it felt really supportive on. Unfortunately that ended when my legs started. I got extra rolls in my thighs, because the shorts were so tight and my thighs are all squishy. And this type of shapewear doesn’t work with my chosen dress either, as the shorts showed fully in the slit part of the skirt. (Sadly it isn’t visible in the photos because I have black tights on.) So those are the reasons for the low confidence score, I didn’t want them to show, and the extra rolls weren’t nice either.

Finally my favourite, MAGISCULPT Pack of 3 Control Briefs* (size 26) – and I have actually worn these before too, so happy to have a new stock ;)! These knickers almost come up to my boobs, and smooth my belly without being crazy tight. Definitely my choice of shapewear in the future too :)! Really amazing value for money too, as 3 pairs are only £24 – I wholeheartedly recommend!

But even though some of my scores were low, the final outfit turned out to be one of my favourites in a while! So yes, here’s my final party look, with that last type of shapewear underneath. I decided to accessorise with this lovely clutch I got from the goodie bag at Accessorize SS14 press day, and this most gorgeous nude lippy for my skintone. It’s from Finnish brand Lumene, who unfortunately aren’t stocked anywhere in the UK. (US readers can find Lumene at Walgreens and Drugstore.com for example.) Mimmi brought me this lipstick when she came to visit me last month, and I’m so happy to have found this perfect nude!

Luckily I have the perfect outfit for this theme! A while ago I was contacted by Zalando, and they gave me a giftcard to spend at their online store. I haven’t used Zalando before, and I was pleasantly surprised. I found really great bargains, and I did have some problems choosing what to buy! They have some plus-size brands that I hadn’t even heard before, and really nice shoe and accessory collection too, they are definitely worth a look :).

Like I said, I had some problems with what to choose, but I finally made the decision based on the fact that these all I can wear as an outfit together without having to add stuff in from my existing wardrobe (except I had to add a long, black vest top after all). So, I got Junarose jersey trousers and a sweater, Oasis knit scarf and a pair of Converse. I can’t believe how happy I was when I saw the Converse were only £30! My old pair was from 2008, and I desperately needed a new one :). And I do like the outfit as a whole, it’s very comfy and relaxed, but still cute. Perfect for a lazy Sunday, right?

Onneksi mulla on täydellinen asu tähän teemaan! Jokin aika sitten minuun otettiin yhteyttä Zalandolta, ja sain heiltä lahjakortin käytettäväksi heidän nettikaupassaan. (Huom! Vaikka itse asioinkin UK-kaupassa, niin suomen kielisen tekstin linkit yllä vievät FI-kauppaan.) En ole aiemmin tehnyt ostoksia Zalandolla, ja olin positiivisesti yllättynyt. Tein loistavia löytöjä alesta, ja mulla oli vaikeuksia valita mihin rahani laitan! Zalando myy monia plussa-merkkejä joista en ollut aiemmin kuullutkaan, ja heillä on myös iso kokoelma kenkiä ja asusteita, todellakin kannattaa käydä kurkkaamassa Zalandon tarjonta :).

Niinkuin sanoin, mulla oli vaikeuksia mitä valita, joten lopulta tein päätöksen sillä perusteella, että näitä tuotteita pystyn käyttämään asuna ilman, että pitää lisätä mitään vaatekaapista (paitsi tämä musta, pitkä toppi sitten lopulta piti lisätä kuitenkin). Päädyin sitten valitsemaan Junarosen trikoohousut ja college-paidan, Oasisksen kaulaliinan ja Conversen tennarit. Asusta tuli ihanan rento ja mukava, mutta silti myös söpö. Täydellistä laiskaan sunnuntaihin, eikö?

I’m OBSESSED with maxi skirts at the moment, and I even bought two maxi dresses from New Look sale, and cut them into maxi skirts. This skirt is one of them, and the top is DIY too, as it is a dress from Primark that I cut into a top. The pics were taken when I was in Finland.. proper fashion victim moment, standing in a muddy field in a pleather top and long maxi skirt ;)

Mä olen nykyisin aivan hullaantunut maxihameisiin. Ostin jopa New Lookin alesta kaksi maximekkoa, jotka leikkasin hameiksi! Tämä on näistä hameista toinen, ja myös paita on tee-se-itse, sillä se on leikattu Primarkin mekosta. Kuvat on otettu kuukauden takaisella Suomen reissulla.. kunnon muodin uhri olen, tekonahkapaidassa ja pitkässä maxihameessa mutaisella pellolla ;)!

Maybe it’s weird that a Finnish person chooses British Heritage as a theme, but I do love tartan, tweed, earthy colours.. which are all included in the trend. So, I’m wearing this gorgeous coat which I was kindly gifted to me by Marisota after I fell in love with it at their AW13 press event. I teamed it up with this tartan skater skirt from Simply Be, which reminds me of kilts too – LOVE this! The last ‘British’ part are the Evans chelsea boots from last winter. So how did I do? On ehkä kummallista, että mä suomalaisena valitsin tämän teeman, mutta rakastan tartania/skottiruutua, tweediä, maanläheisiä värejä.. jotka kaikki on osa tätä trendiä. Asuuni valitsin tämän ihanan takin, jonka Marisota lähetti mulle kun näkivät miten rakastuin siihen pressipäivillä. Lisäksi valitsin tämän hetken lempi-hameeni, kilttimäisen Simply Be-hameen (jota valitettavasti ei ole heidän Euro-kaupassaan – sorry). This week’s item is a dress that was kindly sponsored to our challenge by Lane Bryant. We love doing posts where we can really show how the same dress looks like on different body types and when it’s styled differently. The dress we were sent is this gorgeous black and white Skater sweater dress.

The dress is knit material and feels warm and winter-y. I love that it has long sleeves (well a bit too long for my short arms to be honest, but can be easily rolled shorter) and the striped top and it’s different knit styles is a nice touch, overall a really lovely dress. I’m between sizes myself, I would have needed a 20/22 US, but since my options were 18/20 and 22/24, I went with the latter. That’s why the sleeves are long and the waist is a bit loose, but I actually prefer this looser fit. Styling wise I decided to keep it simple and classy, and team it up with a black clutch, black heeled ankle boots and red lipstick.

Tämän viikon aiheena on tämä mekko, joka meille kaikille lähetettiin Lane Bryantin toimesta. Lane Bryant on USA:n laajin plussavaatteita myyvä ketju, ja oli hienoa saada heidät sponsoreiksi. Yleensähän teemme nämä meidän teemat omista vaatekaapeistamme löytyvien vaatteiden ja asusteiden kanssa, mutta sponsoroidut teemat ovat huippuja etenkin siksi, että sekä brändi että meidän lukijat näkevät miltä sama mekko näyttää erilaisilla kroppamalleilla ja stailaustyyleillä.

Mekko on neule-materiaalia, ja tuntuu lämpimältä ja talveen sopivalta. Pitkät hihat on aivan ihanat (vaikka minä tynkäkäsinen joudun niitä vähän rullaamaan), ja raidallisen yläosan erilaiset neulostyylit on kiva yksityiskohta. Olen itse Lane Bryant-koissa kahden koon välissä. Tarvitsisin USA koon 20-22, mutta vaihtoehtoina oli 18/20 tai 22/24. Päädyin ottamaan suuremman version, ja tosiaan hihat ovat pitkät ja vyötärön kohta on vähän löysä, mutta silti tein oikean valinnan – tykkään tästä enemmän tällaisena löysänä mallina. Päätin stailata mekon simppelisti mutta klassisesti, joten mekon seurana ovat musta clutch-laukku, mustat korolliset nilkkasaappaat ja tietysti punainen huulipuna.

Tämän viikon teemaksi Mhairi valitsi ‘Kenkäsaappaat’. Yritin Mimmiltä kysellä, että miksikä tällaisia kenkiä Suomessa kutsutaan. Nämä kun ei ole peruskorkkarit, eikä nilkkasaappaatkaan.. englanniksi nämä on siis ‘kenkäsaappaat’, joten tämä saa heittomerkeissä nyt kelvata ;).

Mulla on vain yksi pari tällaisia kenkiä, joten ei ainakaan tullut valinnan vaikeutta. Yhdistin kenkiin Forever 21+ maxi mekkoni, tosin käytin sitä tässä hameena ja puin yläosan päälle mun uuden My Little Pony- ‘napapaidan’. Siis en edes leikkinyt My Little Ponyillä paljon lapsena, mutta tämä paita oli PAKKO SAADA!

It’s time for Fatshion Faceoff! I’ve had to skip a few times due to being so busy, but I’m back again. If you’re new to the blog, please see here what Fatshion Faceoff is about :). This week’s theme was chosen by Mouna, and she chose ‘Skulls’.

I thought that I might have to skip this one too, as I thought I don’t have anything with skulls in them… Until I remembered this scarf that is. (And now I remember that I do have one necklace with skulls too.) I wore this outfit last Saturday, when I went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour with my friend Isha. The tour was awesome, and since I took loads of photos I might do a post about it at some point. Would you guys be interested in reading more?

Heipsan!

Nyt olis jälleen Fatshion Faceoffin aika. Olen kiireen takia joutunut jättämään pari edellistä Faceoffia väliin, mutta nyt onneksi ehdin postaamaan! Jos et ole vielä tietoinen tästä ‘projektista’ jota teen 4 muun plussa-bloggaajan kanssa, niin lisätietoa (englanniksi) löytyy täältä. Tämän viikon teemaksi Mouna valitsi ‘Pääkallot’.

Aluksi kuvittelin, että mun pitäisi jättää tämäkin viikko väliin, sillä en muistanut omistavani yhtään pääkallo-aiheista vaatetta. Sitten yllättäen tämä lahjaksi saamani huivi tuli mieleeni, ja nyt tätä kirjoittaessani muistin, että onhan mulla yks kaulakorukin jossa on pääkalloja.

Tämä asu oli päälläni viime lauantaina, jolloin kävin Harry Potter studio kierroksella ystäväni Ishan kanssa. Kierros oli loistava, ja siellä oli NIIN paljon nähtävää. Yllättäen otin valtavan määrän valokuvia, ja ajattelin tekeväni niistä postauksen. Kiinnostaisiko teitä lukea siitä lisää?

Once again it’s Wednesday, and I’m sure you know it’s Fatshion Faceoff time! If you’re new to the blog, please see here what Fatshion Faceoff is about :). This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and she chose mixed prints.

I don’t mix prints very often, and that’s something that I want to change about my style. I want to be more daring. Now this look that I came up with is CRAZY.. I was going through my wardrobe with Diana, and I picked these two items up as a joke. I put them on and we both were surprised – these two prints together should be so wrong, but they aren’t! I mean I’m not brave enough to wear this look in my everyday life, but for this post I will wear it proudly ;)
