Fatshion Faceoff: Statement ring http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/05/fatshion-faceoff-statement-ring/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/05/fatshion-faceoff-statement-ring/#comments Wed, 05 Sep 2012 20:00:49 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1382 It’s Wednesday and Fatshion Faceoff time! Fatshion Faceoff is a weekly challenge that I do with 4 other fatshion bloggers from around the world, in the challenge we choose a similar item of clothing or an accessory and we all style it in our own way. This week’s challenge was chosen by Olivia, and she chose a statement ring.

Now I have to admit that I never wear rings. Or maybe once in 5 years in average.. I need to change that though, since I’ve seen pretty cool rings lately that will fit my chubby plus-sized fingers too ;). I got this ring from Wallis sale, I was glad I found that for £1 when we had decided to do this challenge item, haha. This is kinda cool ring though, I love the unique shape of the ‘stone’, and I think it goes well with my (other) new 17 Sundays dress and gold and red accessories.

Ring: Wallis (similar) ⎢ Dress: L, 17 Sundays ⎢ Belt: New Look Inspire (similar) ⎢ Heels: ASOS ⎢ Glasses: LensWay (similar) ⎢ Lippy: Accessorize, Coral Crush With Love

Now I have to ask, have you entered my cutey giveaway yet? You can win a pretty shamballa bracelet, and yes, the giveaway is open internationally :). Please check out my previous post and enter!

Ok, that’s said, and now you and I both can go and see what kind of rings the other girls are rocking! Let’s go!

OOTD: (I wish there was) 17 Sundays in a row http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/02/ootd-i-wish-there-was-17-sundays-in-a-row/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/02/ootd-i-wish-there-was-17-sundays-in-a-row/#comments Sun, 02 Sep 2012 15:41:59 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1339 Hello my lovelies,

Welcome to ‘the other side’! My blog is now on my own server space, which means I can do whatever I want.. haha ;D. What do you think of my new layout? I designed it myself, excluding the lovely illustration of me, which was drawn by my friend Tris. It was great to design a website layout again, since I usually do smaller scale stuff at work. Sadly I can’t code much, so the lovely Michelle coded a WordPress theme for me according to my design. I’m really happy with it myself, and I hope that you all like it too :).

And like I said in my last ‘announcement-post’, if you were a follower of my posts/comments, please take the time to register again, since that information was lost in the server-move. Thank you :).

So, to my outfit then.. this might be my fave outfit post of mine so far. I’m absolutely in love with the dress, the shoes and the bracelet myself. ..Ok, I’m getting ahead of myself *rewinds*. I was browsing the 17 Sundays site a while ago and basically fell in love with everything. 17 Sundays is an Australian plus size brand with an attitude. They bring a lot of fun, fierceness and trendiness to plus size clothing and their collections are FABULOUS. My wishlist keeps getting more items the every time I visit the site, but right now on top of my list are the Take Me Away Crop Jacket and Too Shy Laser Cut Leather Skirt. Both of them are to die for, right? Sadly for my current shopping budget I could only consider the sale-department, but no worries there, that is FULL with amazing pieces too. I ended up ordering the Down By The Water Pool Dress and Complaint Department Beach Dress. Both of them are gorgeous and in the post I ended up wearing the latter.

17 Sundays have probably the best customer service I have ever encountered. They reply to tweets, give tips in the product descriptions (for example saying in that denim jacket that ‘if you want to wear it tight, size down’), and they also offer a free fitting service over email. That is absolutely amazing customer service, and guarantees that your postage fees won’t go to waste. Oh and you’ll get a smile on your face when you get your pretty package, see mine here :). I will definitely order from them again, the whole experience was only positive.. and hey, even though I wear a lot of Primark stuff, I’m happy to own some fashion all the way from Australia that I won’t see in every street corner here ;)!

Ok ok, enough rambling and to the outfit. I was adviced by 17 Sundays to size down on this dress, and I did and took AU size 22, which is an UK 20 according to their sizing chart. I’m happy I listened to their advice, since I could have actually gone even one more size smaller, but because of the length I’m happy in this size dress and just nipped in the waist with my trusty black belt. I ADORE the colour of this dress, it’s something between black, green and blue, and it’s totally unique and amazing. I think it fits my skin tone and hair colour really well, and basically I just LOVE it. And the shape and drapes of the dress complement my curves.. yeah, this might be my new favourite dress :). And what about the shoes? Aren’t they dreamy?! I saw them in Dani‘s denim skirt post and immediately clicked the link and saw that they were on sale and HAD TO get them too. They are surprisingly comfy for their height, and after realising that I had to order the orange pair too. Love! Let’s see the pics then.. and remember to scroll all the way down, you don’t want to miss that ;)

Dress: 22AU, 17 Sundays | Belt: from an Reiss skirt | Shoes: ASOS | Shamballa bracelet: cutey | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Pink Mallow (available in Boots)

I was recently offered a chance to review shamballa bracelets by cutey and of course I jumped at the chance! I don’t have many bracelets, mostly because they rarely fit my wrist. These shamballa bracelets are fully adjustable and come with nine gorgeous jewel encrusted beads. I’m completely in love with my golden bracelet, and it goes perfectly with this outfit, doesn’t it? If you love this bracelet.. how about a chance of winning your own? YES, I have one beautiful white shamballa bracelet to give away courtesy of cutey.

The giveaway is open internationally (I promised you that will happen the next time, didn’t I?), and all you need to do is to enter via the Rafflecopter below, and you can get up to 9 entries in. Good luck!

I wanted to let you know that later today I will attempt to move my blog to a new server (the url will stay the same, no worries there), which means it’s not on wordpress.com anymore. So that means that if you have registered to follow my blog or follow comments via wordpress (BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has), you need to register again once the move is done. I’m sorry for that extra trouble for you, but I hope you will do it again and you will stay updated with my posts :).

I have a nice new post coming for you, with a gorgeous item to give away (and this time INTERNATIONALLY) and all. Hopefully everything will move smoothly to the new server and I’ll see you ‘on the other side’!

Adventures at Leia http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/01/adventures-at-leia/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/09/01/adventures-at-leia/#comments Sat, 01 Sep 2012 22:11:28 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1334 Hello my lovelies,

Like I mentioned in my post from week ago, I went to Bluewater with Caroline of CurvyWordy, and our main intention was to visit Leia Lingerie. I was very excited to go bra shopping with Caroline, since she is what I call a guru when it comes to bras, the lady knows everything! She was the one who told me that I basically need to get fitted everywhere to know what my size is in each brand etc, so going to Leia store with her was a really great experience :). We were welcomed by the lovely store manager Leigh, who introduced us to Julie who did our fitting.

The only time that I have had a fitting before was at the Curvy Kate bloggers event (post here), and in their bras I’m a 38GG, so we used that as a starting point for me in Elomi bras. First bra we tried was the beautiful Betty, and we tried 3 sizes before we found the fit in 40GG. Julie and me agreed that either that or an H cup is the best fit for me in Betty, since my other boob is quite a bit bigger than the other. They didn’t have Betty in 40H in store, so we tried with some other Elomi model and that was WAY too big. I decided to take the risk without trying Betty in H cup, and actually after using it for a day I know that H is what I will purchase when I get my next Betty (and I will get many Betty’s in the future – love the bra). I also got the Betty brief, which is frilly and GORGEOUS. (Sorry for the silly scarf in the pic, wasn’t quite ready to post my belly, haha.)

Elomi Betty bra in 40GG (online store link) | Elomi Betty brief in 2X (online store link)

After Julie and I got my size sorted in Betty, I mentioned to her what I REALLY needed. A sports bra and a strapless bra. Julie left the fitting room determined to help me find what I need. I really appreciated it that she really looked for items everywhere in the store (and apparently upstairs storage too). Sadly they didn’t have the Elomi Energise sports bras in store, and since I only wanted an underwired one, I only got one Freya bra to try. That one was sadly way too small, so Energise is definitely something that I want to try out in the future! (Might have to do a new visit to Leia soon! Haha.)

Then to my second ‘need’: strapless. I tried a few different brands and bras, with Elomi Smoothing being the best fit, but still nowhere near perfect for my boobs. Julie wasn’t going to give up though. Once again she said that ‘she’ll look upstairs’ and came back with the most gorgeous basque I’ve seen. It was of course the Elomi Occasions basque, and I REALLY wanted it to work for me. Now like you have seen, my underbust width is much less than around my belly, which means that the basque can never work for me as a proper basque with the suspender straps etc, but it works perfectly as a ‘bralet’. TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY. My problems with strapless are gone and I’m so completely happy about that! I fitted as 40G in the basque, but there’s still a bit of room in the cups, so I think that possibly a 40H-HH could also wear it, since I can as a GG :). The cups themselves have a light boning in them, which keeps the boobs in a perfect shape. I’m so in love with this basque… and if Elomi ever decides *hint, hint* to do a strapless bra with the same kind of light cup-boning, I will buy about zillion of those!

Elomi Occasions basque in 40G (online store link) | High-waisted briefs: L, H&M (similar)

See! I can wear a strapless dress! Dress: 18, New Look (similar.. or actually a lot fancier, haha)

I also put together an outfit where I use the basque as a top. Looks pretty great like that, or what do you think?

Biker jacket: 20, Primark (similar) | Skirt: XL, Old Navy via Dani, and also shortened (similar) | Belt: XL, Dorothy Perkins (similar) | Heels: Clarks (similar)

What do you think? Successful bra-shopping? I’d say so! I love the cuteness of Betty and the sexiness of the basque, AND obviously the fact that it works so well for me as a strapless bra. LOVE. I want to give a HUGE thank you to Leigh and her fabulous staff, especially Julie of course. My readers, if you have a chance to visit the Leia Lingerie store in Bluewater I absolutely recommend going. The customer service is amazing and the lingerie gorgeous.. and to tempt you even more: Elomi has amazing stuff coming.. like for example.. A LONGLINE BRA…

See that gorgeous longline bra in the catalogue? It’s calling my name!

Yeah, I really think that the girls of the Bluewater store will be seeing me again soon, and obviously I’ll make Caroline go with me again ;)!!

I closed the poll at 100 votes and outfits 1 and 2 were the most popular ones. This following outfit was voted second with 25 votes. (Winner post here.)

I have to admit that this one is my personal favourite of the ones in the poll, I love this Forever 21+ jacket so much, and you all must be tired of these shoes already, since I wear them all the time ;).

Fatshion Faceoff: Printed skirt http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/29/fatshion-faceoff-printed-skirt/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/29/fatshion-faceoff-printed-skirt/#comments Wed, 29 Aug 2012 20:00:41 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1300 It’s Wednesday and Fatshion Faceoff time! Fatshion Faceoff is a weekly challenge that I do with 4 other fatshion bloggers from around the world, in the challenge we choose a similar item of clothing and we all style it in our own way. This week’s challenge was chosen by Dani, and she chose a printed/patterned skirt.

So you might have noticed that number 4 there… the lovely LuAnne is taking a break from blogging, so she has left our challenge, at least for now. She’s always welcome back though, we all love her style to bits!

Ok, to this week’s challenge then. I chose to wear this pleated skirt I got from Old Navy while I was in New York in March. I have already blogged it once, see my post from the awesome Coney Island in here. This time I decided to wear it without leggings, since the weather today was lovely.. and it wasn’t windy! Haha, pleated skirts can be quite hazardous during windy weather ;). I wore it with a grey tee, teal spiked pumps, and teal purse.

Skirt: 20 US, Old Navy (similar) | T-shirt: 20, Simply Be | Pumps: Primark (similar) | Purse: Forever 21 (similar) | Glasses: Select Specs | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Coral Shimmer (available in Boots)

So what do you think of my outfit? It was surely perfect for work today, office was really warm. Isn’t it great that sometimes fashion can really be practical? Want to see how the other Fatshion Faceoff girls styled their skirts :)? I know I do.. Clickity click!

OOTN: Black & Blue http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/28/ootn-black-blue/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/28/ootn-black-blue/#comments Tue, 28 Aug 2012 13:10:25 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1292 Hey all,

This is the second part of my One Stop Plus review (part one here). I wore this outfit when I went on a date on Sunday evening. Sadly nothing else was glamorous about the date except for this gorgeous dress. And I certainly felt amazing in it, I honestly didn’t even care that I didn’t fancy the guy cos I felt like a million bucks in this outfit ;).

The dress is by Lovedrobe and I ADORE the drapey feel of it, and the fact that it kind of gives me a hourglassy shape. Like you can see from the product page, the dress comes with a belt of the same blue fabric. I decided to add a black belt to give it more contrast, and black shoes and leggings. I also teamed it up with the clutch that I got from Dani, the blues aren’t the same as on the dress, but I think they still look good together. What do you think?

Dress: 20, Lovedrobe via One Stop Plus ⎢ Bag: Target ⎢ Leggings: 20, Primark ⎢ Shoes: Evans (similar) ⎢ Headband: Forever 21 (similar) ⎢ Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Coral Shimmer (available in Boots)

I certainly can recommend this dress, it’s a gorgeous colour, and the draping is showing off my curves in all the right ways. The only minus I noticed about this dress is that I had to add a small safety pin on the cleavage, since my bra was showing, but that was easy to do. What do you think of the dress? Have you tried a drapey shape of a dress before?

The dress was gifted to me by One Stop Plus for a review, but my comments and opinions are entirely my own.

OOTD: Pink & Lace http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/27/ootd-pink-lace/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/27/ootd-pink-lace/#comments Mon, 27 Aug 2012 12:58:46 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1282 Hello everyone,

Hope you’ve had a nice weekend. It’s a Bank Holiday here in the UK today, so no work for me this Monday, whoo ;). That means I have some more time to work on my blog. I’m still working on the new layout, I need to do a few tweaks and then I can hopefully have it up soon. Can’t wait to hear your comments on it!

So, on Saturday I went to Bluewater shopping centre with the lovely Caroline of CurvyWordy, and I wanted to dress myself nicely in my new gorgeous lace top. We had a little photoshoot at the glamorous carpark ;) and of course I stepped into a puddle.. well, at least we got a few laughs out of that :D.

Top: L, Carmakoma (in super sale) | Skirt: 22, Asos Curve (size 22 in pink still available) | Shoes: Red Herring via Debenhams (still available in super sale in stores, online at Debenhams Ireland) | Bag: Primark (similar) | Headband: Forever 21 (similar) | Sunnies: Aldo (similar) | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Cranberry (available in Boots)

Our main purpose for the trip was to visit Leia Lingerie and get myself fitted by them.. and maybe find some pretty bras to take home. ..which led to this on the left! Be sure to check my coming post for more about this AMAZING find.

So what do you think of my sale finds in this outfit? I still can’t believe that I fot that Carmakoma top for £20! Have you been shopping this weekend?

Evans Swan A/W preview http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/26/evans-swan-aw-preview/ http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/2012/08/26/evans-swan-aw-preview/#comments Sun, 26 Aug 2012 13:45:44 +0000 Hanna http://thewardrobechallenge.co.uk/?p=1254 I was one of the bloggers invited to the preview event of the Evans Clements Ribeiro Swan Autumn/Winter collection last Thursday. I had a really great time chatting to my fellow bloggers and the lovely Evans ladies Carina and Claire, and of course we all were talking about the new items for coming season.

So ok, let me be honest.. I didn’t like the Clements Ribeiro Spring/Summer collection AT ALL. Ok that’s a lie, I did love the black Adele-dress, but it was way too long for my taste. But in general the collection was very far from what I like in clothes. All the prints and lengths reminded me of my grandma’s and their friends, and that put me off. I guess that’s how grandma’s dresses in the 80′s in Finland ;). This is just my opinion though, and I know that many other bloggers loved the range. Anyway, I was really eager to see the Autumn/Winter collection and if it would change my mind about Swan. And you know what, it kinda did! There was 6 pieces that I really loved, tops and dresses with beautiful lace details and contrast finishes. …And the gorgeous lacy pencil skirt. Instant love.

Here’s me trying on the skirt. It looks gorgeous, doesn’t it? Sadly the fit was a bit wrong in that sample, so I will have to go to try it on when the collection is in stores.

Some amazing Evans accessories and shoes for A/W. The boots with the steel detail will surely be mine!

Some accessories and shoes from Dorothy Perkins. GORGEOUS.

Haha, me being silly :D. But on a serious note, I will NEED those Evans earrings in my life!

Denim vest: 20, New Look Inspire | Vest dress: 26, Next via Choice | Leggings: 20, Primark | Shoes: H&M | Glasses: LensWay (similar) | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Pink Mallow (available in Boots)

One more smile spam ;)

The Clements Ribeiro Swan collection hits the Evans stores and online next weekend, will you be shopping? Which items are your favourites?
