Hello my lovelies,

Welcome to the new part of my blog.. This is my first ever beauty post! I’m both excited and a bit scared to be honest! I’m very much a rookie when it comes to all things beauty, the only beauty products that I use regularly are lipsticks and nail polishes. And since I got a chance to work with Barry M, I thought nail polishes would be the best way to start ;).

Tervetuloa blogini ‘uuteen aikaan’.. Tämä on ensimmäinen kauneus-postaukseni! Mä olen sekä innoissani että kauhuissani, sillä mä olen kauneus-tuotteiden suhteen todella noviisi. Ainoat tuotteet joita käytän usein ovat huulipunat ja kynsilakat. Ja tästä syystä ajattelin, että kynsilakat olisi loistava valinta, kun sain mahdollisuuden työskennellä Barry M-merkin kanssa.

Barry M sent me two polishes from their new Matte-range, Classic Matte Nail Paint Nude Vanilla (MNP4) and Classic Matte Nail Paint Black Espresso (MNP1). I adore both of these polishes, the matte finish looks so different from the usual glossy polishes. The polish is easy to apply (I only used one thick coat), and it dried really quickly. The range comes in 5 different shades, see them all here.

I will definitely wear these with more grungey and rockish outfits this autumn, and try to use a bit more of eyeliner too, haha ;)! Little steps forward, eh?

Barry M lähetti mulle kaksi lakkaa uudesta Matte-kokoelmastaan, Classic Matte Nail Paint Nude Vanilla (MNP4) ja Classic Matte Nail Paint Black Espresso (MNP1). Tykkään kummastakin tosi paljon, matta lakka näyttää niin erilaiselta kiiltäviin lakkoihin tottuneisiin silmiin :). Lakka on helppo levittää, itse laitoin vain yhden paksun kerroksen. Lakka myös kuivui todella nopeasti. Matte-kokoelmassa on viisi sävyä, kaikki näkyvillä täällä. Barry M -tuotteita voi tilata Suomessa ainakin loveit.fi nettikaupasta, mutta myös merkin oma nettikauppa lähettää Suomeen.

Aion todellakin yhdistää nämä lakat grunge- ja rock vaikutteisiin asuihin, ja ehkä rupean käyttämään myös enemmän rajausta silmiini ;).

A few weeks ago the gorgeous Naomi of Diamonds n’ Pearls was asking other plus-size bloggers on Twitter if anyone would be interested in doing a five-week workwear challenge. There was a nice response and now it’s the 10 of us doing this! 2 of us will post each working day, and we have been given themes for each week. Please see this post by Naomi for more information :). This is the fifth and final week of this challenge, and the theme is Freestyle. I decided to take this as a chance to do a ‘casual Friday’-look with some of my new Primark goodies, and I will totally wear this look to work some day soon!

I was contacted by Most Wanted (the lifestyle magazine for VoucherCodes.co.uk) last week, they asked if I’d like to take part in their latest challenge ‘How to Wear’. Of course I said yes, and I was asked to show 3 looks for one of the SS13 trends they had listed: Modern 60′s. I was given a budget of £80 and I could spend it in any high street/online store.

When I thought of 60′s fashion and what is also available now, I immediately thought of swing dresses and block heeled shoes – and those were what I wanted to base my outfits on. I had seen some amazing swing dresses at ASOS Curve, so that’s where I decided to go with my budget. I bought 2 swing dresses, and since I still had some money left, I also bought a cute beanie that matched the colour of my block heeled shoes.

I didn’t want to be too restricted with the whole ’60′s’ thing, and I went looking through my wardrobe to see items I could pair the dresses with. In my opinion the whole ‘modern’ part of this theme is how to make 60′s inspired items work in today’s fashion. So, want to see the looks I came up with?

Look 1. In this look I wore this black swing dress with orange wedges and denim jacket for a casual and girly look.

Look 2. This was the most 60′s look out of all three, mainly because of my block heel shoes and this short, grey swing dress.

Look 3. Ok, this one I just went for cute and crazy. I also LOVE the fact that I have come a ‘full circle’ since I started blogging… and by that I mean that when I first started blogging I wanted to wear bright colours and figure-hugging dresses – I wanted to make it clear that fat women can wear other stuff than big, black sacks. And here I am, wearing a big, black sack, but loving it! I adore this dress :)!

I absolutely loved doing this challenge, it made me push for completely different looks, and I also looked at my wardrobe differently when I started building the outfits starting from these two dresses. I can’t wait to see Most Wanted‘s feature and what the other bloggers involved did with their themes – thanks so much for asking me to partake! Which one is your favourite out of my three looks? I’m torn between 2 and 3 myself!
