It is Sunday and it’s time for Double Vision again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and she chose ‘Something new, something old’.
As I have old brown shoes and accessories that I LOVE, I wanted to wear them with something new. Now this ASOS Curve dress is just amazing. I had seen pictures of it, seen other bloggers talk about it, lusted after it.. but I didn’t order because of two reasons: the price, and the fact that I was sure that it wouldn’t work with my apple-shape. Then I saw it was part of ASOS 50% off 50 items Bank Holiday promotion, which meant the pricetag was only £30, and I decided to take the plunge. And you know what, I’m so happy I did! I was right that it looks wrong on my bodyshape.. I sized up to 26 to ensure that my belly would fit in the fitted shape, and that meant the dress was way too long and the waist was way too low and looked ‘interesting’. BUT when I added a belt and got the extra fabric from the length as a ‘bubble’ over the belt the look of the dress totally changed. I absolutely adore this dress, and I’m sure in some of my FFFW photos you will see a dressed up version of it. In this post I dressed it down with these old accessories, and I realised how versatile this dress is. And once again I was proved wrong.. I think almost anything could work for any body shape, you just need to find ways to make it work. In this case adding a belt changed everything.
The dress isn’t the only new thing in this post either.. I got two new pairs of glasses from Select Specs a few weeks ago. It’s the same frame that I have gotten from then before in matte black, but in two new colours.. tortoiseshell and shiny black. I love this shape, and the brown tones of this frame makes my face look ‘softer’ somehow. I can’t believe that I paid only £10 a pair for these!
Ok, enough about me and my outfit.. let’s go see what new and old stuff Dani decided to wear – click to DIY Fatshion!
This is the most exciting post I’ve done in a while, maybe ever. I’m sure if you are a regular reader you have noticed that Dani of DIY Fatshion and me are totally great friends. We met on Tumblr even before we started our blogs, and she is definitely one of my BFF’s, even though she is in Texas and I’m in London. So I’m sure you can imagine how much we want to meet and hang out for real, right? We have been thinking and dreaming and planning for ages, and now it will finally come true! We have been saving money, rented an apartment and finally bought our flights this week.. and both of us are flying to New York for Full Figured Fashion Week 2013! I’m seriously crazy excited, I can’t wait to meet Dani, go to my favourite city again, and of course meet other bloggers and go to FFFW events. Whooooo!
So, that brings me to this special Double Vision! In this challenge Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week we are wearing Lane Bryant, and there is an exciting reason why. Both of us were chosen to take part in Lane Bryant Blogger Conference at FFFW, and as a part of the invitation we were given $200 gift card to purchase an outfit that will be featured in a style challenge at Lane Bryant Facebook page. Lane Bryant has had an amazing ‘Buy one, get one free’-event this week, and I’m slightly jealous to the US bloggers who could go to the store to get their outfits.. haha (if you live in the US, you still have time until the end of today to use this discount). Since I live in the UK, I could choose items worth $200 from the site, and the lovely Lindsey from Lane Bryant kindly sent them to me. I chose a grey t-shirt with amazing neon yellow lace shoulder details, black jeggings, GORGEOUS nude peep toe heels with neon yellow accents and cool wayfarer sunnies. And from my own closet I added a bright coral lippy, nude/coral clutch and spike necklace with neon yellow accents. I think this is a really nice way to mix neutrals and neons, and I think this t-shirt and the heels will become my wardrobe favourites this summer!
Can’t wait to see all the bloggers’ looks at Lane Bryant Facebook page – remember to check it out mid-May :). But first let’s go see what Dani chose, I have a feeling that she’s got some neon accents going on too ;) – clickity to DIY Fatshion!
After a few week’s break, it is time for Double Vision again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and she chose ‘Shorts’.
I’ve been wearing my two pairs of denim shorts A LOT this spring, the studded ones from ASOS Curve, and these light denim ones from New Look Inspire. I have also fallen in love with large, blingy statement necklaces, and I already mentioned in this post that I will be getting another one.. and this is the new one.
I also turned 35 this week, and this is another one of my ‘I don’t give a crap’ outfits.. I like dressing like teenagers, haha, even though that isn’t ‘suitable’ for women my age. Screw that!
Now let’s clickity to DIY Fatshion and see what kind of shorts Dani wore :)!
After a few week’s break, it is time for Double Vision again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by me, and I went with ‘Varsity’. It seems that this trend is everywhere now, with tops and jackets with big letters on them, and tops with ‘Nerd’, ‘Jock’, ‘Dork’..etc on them. Other part of me finds it cheesy, but the other one loves it :D.
My love for the trend started when I saw this sweater at New Look. Since my name is Hanna, I might as well own a sweater with a huge ‘H’ on it, right? For this challenge post I went for a ‘fat cheerleader’ look, haha, sadly I don’t own pompoms ;)
Now let’s go over to DIY Fatshion and see what Dani wore!
After a few week’s break it is Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by me, and I chose ‘Jeans & t-shirt’. Now this is something that Dani wears a lot, but I wear basically never, so it was more of a challenge to me, haha ;).
I wish I could wear jeans more, but I feel uncomfortable sitting all day at work in them. I should start wearing them more on the weekends though, as I really like this look I came up with. (Sorry for the sick and tired looking face..)
Now let’s click to DIY Fatshion and see Dani’s outfit – I bet she looks babely!
After last week’s break it is Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen for us by our lovely Fatshion Faceoff ‘colleague’, Mouna. I was having dinner with her and asked if she’d like to come up with a theme for us, and she gave us one word, one lady. Adele.
Now her name instantly brought black dresses and big hair into my mind, and that’s what I went with. I received this gorgeous Scarlett & Jo dress earlier this week, and I think it fits this theme perfectly. I’m also wearing my patent Evans heels for the 3rd time this week, oops ;). And of course I had to put my hair up on a huge bun to finish the look.
Thanks Mouna for giving us the theme, I hope that I managed to channel Adele even a bit ;). Now let’s click to DIY Fatshion and see what Dani wore!
The giveaways (styling session at Evans & a £100 outfit here, and £100 to spend on Scarlett & Jo at Evans here) are exciting and fun, but it’s time for an outfit post – yay!
And if you are a regular reader I’m sure you know that it’s Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and since we both got the amazing mesh panel leggings from Domino Dollhouse, she decided we should do a post with them.
I wore them with this super comfy Joe Browns knit from Simply Be, my monochrome bargain boots from Primark, my trusty Primark biker jacket and red lippy. The leggings are so sexy and cool, and I think they totally transform this outfit from simple to one of my total faves!
I’m sure Dani will look ROCKIN’ in her outfit – let’s click to DIY Fatshion and see!
It’s Sunday, and it’s Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by me, and I chose ‘Double denim’.
Double denim is something that I have been a bit afraid to try, but as one point of blog challenges is to push each other to try new things etc, I really wanted to go with it. And it turned up to be pretty good, or what do you think? This outfit definitely shows that right accessories can make a ‘meh’ outfit FAB :)!
I really think that double denim can work after all! Have you been afraid of it? Go ahead and try, and tweet/email me a pic – I’m very interested in seeing the looks you come up with :)! But before that, let’s go to DIY Fatshion and see how my fab friend Dani tackled this challenge…
It’s Sunday, and it’s Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and she chose ‘Gifted goodies’. Dani and I have a habit of sending each other care packages every once in a while, I send her UK goodies and she send me US goodies.. So it’s about time that we do posts where outfits contain items that we have given each other :).
My outfit has some serious colourblocking going, black, teal, black, coral, black, purple ;). The photos aren’t the best, since I couldn’t go outside (would have killed myself in these heels in the snow), but I hope you get some idea of the colours. And check out the gorgeous Betsey Johnson bag and the beautiful booties as well! (Dani you are too good to me <3!)
Like you can see, no wonder I’m always excited to see a surprised package from Dani <3! Let’s go to see what gifted goodies she chose for her outfit – clickity to DIY Fatshion! Do you have a friend who you exchange a lot of gifts with?
It’s Sunday, and it’s Double Vision time again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by me, and I chose winter coats. I wanted to do this theme because I don’t get to show my winter coats much in my posts, and I do love my coats! We decided to feature two coats, our favourite one and our newest one.
I want to start with my newest one, which is this pleather sleeved tweed coat from New Look. It’s currently on sale (and I’m happy I waited until it went on sale, haha), and I love how it looks! The only minus (which is a big minus to me, I would have sent it back if I had bought it on full price) is that it doesn’t have pockets! I might have to get some PU fabric and get pockets made or something, but otherwise it’s a lovely coat :)
And the favourite winter coat then.. well that has to be this ASOS Curve beauty! I bought it last winter from sale, and it is amazing! I love its brightness and cosiness, it is exactly the right size for me.. it is absolutely perfect in my eyes :)
Do you have cosy winter coats? Do you like them bold or more on the classic side? I wonder what kind of coat is Dani’s favourite? Let’s click to DIY Fatshion and see!
