Double Vision: Something new, something old

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hey lovelies,

It is Sunday and it’s time for Double Vision again! In this challenge my amazing friend Dani and I are choosing a theme, item, movie character.. whatever we come up with basically, and style those our own way and post at the same time, more about the challenge here. This week’s theme was chosen by Dani, and she chose ‘Something new, something old’.

As I have old brown shoes and accessories that I LOVE, I wanted to wear them with something new. Now this ASOS Curve dress is just amazing. I had seen pictures of it, seen other bloggers talk about it, lusted after it.. but I didn’t order because of two reasons: the price, and the fact that I was sure that it wouldn’t work with my apple-shape. Then I saw it was part of ASOS 50% off 50 items Bank Holiday promotion, which meant the pricetag was only £30, and I decided to take the plunge. And you know what, I’m so happy I did! I was right that it looks wrong on my bodyshape.. I sized up to 26 to ensure that my belly would fit in the fitted shape, and that meant the dress was way too long and the waist was way too low and looked ‘interesting’. BUT when I added a belt and got the extra fabric from the length as a ‘bubble’ over the belt the look of the dress totally changed. I absolutely adore this dress, and I’m sure in some of my FFFW photos you will see a dressed up version of it. In this post I dressed it down with these old accessories, and I realised how versatile this dress is. And once again I was proved wrong.. I think almost anything could work for any body shape, you just need to find ways to make it work. In this case adding a belt changed everything.

Dress: 26, ASOS Curve | Belt: XL, Dorothy Perkins (similar at Dorothy Perkins) | Booties: Jones Bootmaker – thrifted (similar at Dorothy Perkins) | Bag: H&M (similar at Accessorize) | Glasses: Select Specs | Lippy: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange (UK link, US link)

The dress isn’t the only new thing in this post either.. I got two new pairs of glasses from Select Specs a few weeks ago. It’s the same frame that I have gotten from then before in matte black, but in two new colours.. tortoiseshell and shiny black. I love this shape, and the brown tones of this frame makes my face look ‘softer’ somehow. I can’t believe that I paid only £10 a pair for these!

Ok, enough about me and my outfit.. let’s go see what new and old stuff Dani decided to wear – click to DIY Fatshion!

OOTD: Earthy cosy

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hey my lovelies,

Sun is finally shining here in London (I hope this doesn’t jinx it), and I wanted to post an outfit that would be ideal for relaxed weekend walks in the crispy but sunny weather. I was recently contacted by Barratts and they offered me a pair of shoes for a review. I went with these amazing biker boots (on sale now), and I’m happy I did. I’ve wanted biker boots for a while, and I like the fact that these are brown instead of more usual black. They are really comfy on, and they don’t come up to my calf, which means that they are absolutely fine on me even though they are not wide legged boots. They also have my favourite thing at the moment: studs! (Well ok I lied, studs and spikes BOTH are my fave thing at the moment.. haha.)

I teamed them up with this Gap cape that I found in a charity shop a few months ago, it had a whopping price of £4.50 ;). It’s perfect since it’s not too hot, but it still keeps the wind away. And the scarf!! I have wanted a red tartan scarf for ages, and I saw this beauty on sale at H&M for £4.. score!

Party looks: Evans + an international giveaway

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Hey my lovelies,

I will be showing you some party looks over the next few weeks, just in time for Christmas parties. First stop is Evans, and I also have an amazing giveaway from them, yay!

These are the last bits of my recent Evans haul that I haven’t shown you yet. I wanted to create a look that is nice enough for a Christmas party, but not too fancy for work. This would be my ideal outfit if I needed to hurry to a party straight from work. This high-low top is amazing sheer material with velvety floral print, and a pretty back, and the high-waisted jeans are great looking, but still very comfy. I teamed them up with the horse clutch from Matalan, mid heels and dark red lippy.

Top: 22, Evans | Jeans: 24, Evans (similar coloured jeggings) | Clutch: Matalan (same in red, similar in black at ASOS, similar in nude at ASOS) | Heels: H&M (similar at Evans) | Lippy: Maybelline Pleasure Me Red (similar by MAC)

And then the giveaway..

So, the lovely ladies at Evans gave me £50/€62/$79 gift code to give away! Yes, the code will work at ALL Evans sites: UK, US and Germany. That means that anyone can enter :)!

What do you need to do to enter? Well, I want to see a bit of creativity, so to enter you need to create a polyvore-type of image (or something else creative – sky’s the limit) using clothing from ONLY Evans Collection range (link here), and accessories from Evans and create your favourite party outfit out of them :).

Here’s my example:

Top: Collection Navy Floral Shirt | Jacket: Collection Navy Boucle Jacket | Jeans: Collection Black Jaquard Jeans | Heels: Black Metallic Toecap Court Shoes | Necklace: Tonal Navy Bead Necklace | Clutch: Silver Christmas Clutch

So, create your image, upload it to photobucket or similar, and leave a comment to this post with a link to the image. (If you want, you can also email the image to me.) I will choose my TOP 3 favourites of them and after that I will ask my fashionable flatmate to be the judge and choose the winner out of them.

The competition will close next week’s Wednesday, 5th of December at noon UK time. COMPETITION IS CLOSED NOW. Good luck to the people who entered :)!

I’d love to win this myself, I’m already jealous of the winner :)! Hope to see some lovely entries soon! xx
