Fatshion Faceoff: Button-up blouse with a necklace

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hello lovelies,

Once again it’s Wednesday, and I’m sure you know it’s Fatshion Faceoff time! If you’re new to the blog, please see here what Fatshion Faceoff is about :). This week’s item was chosen by me, and I chose a button-up blouse with a necklace. This is one of my favourite styles, and I have worn a lot of different types lately.. but I wanted to do something new with this look, so I dressed it up as most of my looks have been quite casual. Dressing up in this post is a good thing, as two of the Fatshion Faceoff ladies have a birthday this week – Mhairi yesterday and Mouna tomorrow. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABES :)!!!

The Plus-size Workwear Challenge: How to ‘werk’ the blazer

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hey my lovelies,

A few weeks ago the gorgeous Naomi of Diamonds n’ Pearls was asking other plus-size bloggers on Twitter if anyone would be interested in doing a five-week workwear challenge. There was a nice response and now it’s the 10 of us doing this! 2 of us will post each working day, and we have been given themes for each week. Please see this post by Naomi for more information :).

The first week’s theme is ‘How to ‘werk’ the blazer’. I love this theme as I have found my love for blazers just recently. I didn’t use to like them at all, but now I’m practically obsessed :D. My amazing friend Dani sent me this Forever 21+ blazer in a care package a few weeks ago, and I was excited to wear it for this post. But since I work in an office where we can wear practically anything, I didn’t want to look TOO professional ;). So I teamed the blazer up with a sheer shirt from New Look Inspire, my trusty Old Navy skirt and these fabulous glitter shoes from Target – also from Dani’s care package!

Blazer: 2X, Forever 21+ – gift from Dani (similar at Macy’s, other lovely light coloured blazers: Macy’s, Simply Be, New Look Inspire) | Shirt: 24, New Look Inspire (similar at George at ASDA: 1, 2, similar at Forever 21+) | Skirt: XL, Old Navy – shortened (similar at ASOS Curve) | Belt: New Look Inspire (similar at Simply Be: 1, 2, similar at New Look) | Tights: E, We Love Colors | Shoes: Target – gift from Dani (similar at Daniel Footwear, similar at 6pm, similar at Karmaloop) | Glasses*: Four Eyes | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Cranberry – available in Boots (similar by MAC)

That was my take on the blazer, new theme coming next week (and next week I will post on Wednesday).  And please don’t forget to enter my anniversary giveaways: styling session at Evans and £100 outfit, £100 to spend on Scarlett&Jo at Evans, and a pair of Minnetonka suede moccasins!

No go and check out how the other bloggers in this challenge ‘werked’ their blazers!

Fatshion Faceoff: Simply Be dress

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hello lovelies,

Once again it’s Wednesday, and I’m sure you know it’s Fatshion Faceoff time! If you’re new to the blog, please see here what Fatshion Faceoff is about :). This week is a bit different, in a really amazing way. The lovely ladies at Simply Be have sponsored our challenge this week with these amazing floral dresses. This is the first time that our challenge actually features the exact same item! Yay, I’m totally excited and can’t wait to see the other girls’ posts!

This dress has a beautiful shape and amazing vibrant colours. I love how this is a dress that fits both summer and winter seasons, and can be dressed up or down. The hole detail at the back adds a really great finishing touch to it, and makes the dress a bit sexier :). The sizing of the dress is a bit generous compared to other Simply Be items that I have tried. I got my usual UK size 22, and I think 20 would have been a bit better fit for me. This doesn’t bother me too much though, since I LOVE this dress and how I feel in it, and after adding a simple black belt the fit was much better. I wore it to the pub last Saturday, and these pics were taken there. You can see how the dress looks like in different lighting as well, but the ones taken with flash are the closest to the real, vibrant colouring of the dress.

Dress: 22, Simply Be* | Jacket: 20, Primark (similar at Simply Be) | Leggings: 20, Primark (similar at ASOS) | Heels: Evans (same at Style 369) | Clutch: Target – gift from Dani | Stud earrings: Forever 21 – gift from Dani (similar at Accessorize) | Lippy: Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Rose Bud – available in Boots (similar by MAC)

I’m so in love with this dress, and I might have to get the same one in this amazing galactic print – so pretty! What do you think of this dress? Can’t wait to see it on the other girls? Let’s go see!!!

OOTD: Proper fashion blogger

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Hello my lovely readers,

Sorry for the silly name for this outfit.. it all starts with the top bun. It seems to be the hairstyle of choice for ‘proper’ fashion bloggers, and I tried it for the first time ever. I even added this amazing spiked hair comb in it to complete the look ;). I do like it a lot, but I don’t see myself having my hair like this every day. (Ok, the main reason is that I can’t see myself waking up 15 mins earlier to do this in the morning.. yes, I hate mornings.)

I wore this outfit on Thursday, when I went to Clothing at Tesco AW12 event with the lovely Becky and Caroline. (Thanks for sneaking to the side streets with me and snapping these pics Becky <3!) I wanted to wear this Lovedrobe dress (review here), and decided to wear it with a denim jacket to make the look more casual for work.

Denim jacket: 1X, Forever 21+ (PU sleeved jacket at Dorothy Perkins, denim jacket at Simply Be) | Dress: 20, Lovedrobe at One Stop Plus* (similar at New Look Inspire) | Belt: 1, Target – swapped with Dani | Leggings: 20, Primark (similar at ASOS) | Shoes: Primark – thrifted (similar at Evans/Style369) | Hair comb: ASOS | Bag: Primark (similar by Bertie) | Lippy: Maybelline Pink Punch Baby Lips lipbalm- gift from Dani (similar shade lipstick by NARS) | Nail polish: Gold by Giles at New Look (similar shade by Models Own) | Glasses: LensWay (similar)
